Phew, have been awake the best part of 36 hours now. Started out Tuesday at 6am. Taxi came and took us to Heathrow terminal 3. Usual airport shinnanagins but through departures resonably quickly. Flight to helsiniki was delayed an hour but no great problem and transfer to Tokyo bound plane was smooth.

Finally arrived in Tokyo 8:30 local time some 8 hours ahead of GMT with little or no sleep. Japanese hotels are very fussy about check in times so by the time we had finished at the airport and taken the Skyliner train into central Tokyo we still had 4 hours to kill before we could get into our rooms, shower and get some much needed kip.
Our hotel is in an area called Asakusa which seems to be one of the big tourist destinations in Tokyo. It is centred on a large temple complex which is part religious centre and part flee market. Literally hundreds of stalls selling tourist tat. Unbelieveable!
Here are some pictures from today. After some sleep this afternoon a light tea and more sleep we will be ready to hit the sites tomorrow
